After spending most of my time in the days after Chemo #6 SLEEPING, Saturday night I rose from the bed and joined friends for a great concert at the Town Hall Theater. The band was a group of musicians from local and Vermont bands who had come together to do a Beatles Tribute Concert last fall.
Then they had performed the three albums, – Rubber Soul, Revolver and Abbey Road.
I had not thought of myself as a Beatles fan till I heard that concert. Such complex and powerful music! Miles away from ‘I want to hold your Hand’ tunes!!
That concert was so popular that the band repeated it this Friday night and on Saturday performed a new concert spanning the early tunes through and including all of the album Let It Be. The band is incredible! I felt as if I received a blood transfusion via music. If you have 6 minutes, watch the performance video I took of my favorite number, “I Want YOU (She’s So Heavy)”
I Want YOU (She’s So Heavy)
Just wanted to THANK YOU SO MUCH for saving 4 great seats for us and our friends…your professional “RESERVED SEAT” signs were a wonderful idea (as well as the other articles of clothing!)…what a fab way to go down memory lane again!
That was fun, wasn’t it?
I love that they don’t try to “be” the Beetles, just play their music. I’ve found that often to be the case, that I actually hear the words and appreciate a song better once it’s been covered by someone else. Dave does some songs (BeeGees, The Cars, Neil Young) with his country bands that make me re-listen to the songs, and love them more. Thanks for posting this! Glad it was good night for everyone.
okay, now why is it that somehow i didn’t see you listening to this kind of music? hahaha…. just goes to show 🙂 glad that you’re feeling more energetic!
Ah…. it is just my ‘soft’ exterior that would lead you to think I might prefer…. ballads, perhaps. Nope! I’m all about the passion – Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, James Brown style. And who knew the Beatles could do such a soul scream!
