History

In early January 2012, Tammi noticed that her belly was getting larger and that she was gaining weight, although her eating hadn’t increased or changed.  She also felt a bit of pain in her abdomen.  She thought perhaps she was having an issue with her gallbladder.

A doctor’s appointment and a CAT scan showed that the gallbladder wasn’t the issue.  It was her ovary.  The scan showed a large mass of unknown composition, but ovarian cancer was suspected.  One way or another, it was Girl Parts, Gone Bad.

The current plan is to start chemotherapy early February, followed by surgery in April/May.  Tammi is also incorporating nutritional and supplemental therapies to support her immune system during the chemo.  We are ready to help her fight, any way we can!

    Tammi/Ann,
You are probably overwhelmed with information about ovarian cancer, so you can ignore this if you wish. Are you familiar with Cancercare telephone workshops? They’re one hour information sessions about various cancers which include questions from listeners. It just so happens that they’re having an educational session on ovarian cancer on Tuesday, March 6. Google Cancercare, and it will give you the information about what will be discussed and how to sign up. I found these very helpful for breast cancer and lymphoma.
